Ceremonial ketamine is a form of psychedelic-assisted therapy. Ketamine is a legal, FDA-approved medication that produces a non-ordinary state of consciousness with many of the same therapeutic qualities as classical psychedelics like psilocybin or MDMA.
The word “ceremonial” describes how we hold the session — with intention, music, preparation, and skilled guides — rather than as a typical clinical procedure.
No. Psilocybin (mushrooms), MDMA, and DMT remain Schedule I substances under U.S. federal law and are not legal to administer outside of approved clinical trials.
Ketamine is currently the only legal psychedelic medicine available in our setting. Many clients who arrive looking for “mushroom therapy” or “MDMA therapy” find that ceremonial ketamine offers a meaningful, legal way to do similar inner work.
Most ketamine clinics deliver the medicine in a clinical, procedural setting with minimal preparation, no music, and little integration. The model is medical, not therapeutic.
At Within Center, every session is treated as a ceremony. We prepare beforehand, hold the space with experienced guides during, and integrate the experience afterward. The medicine is the same; the container is entirely different.
Ketamine has been used safely in medicine for over fifty years and is FDA-approved for several indications. When administered under medical supervision, in screened and prepared individuals, it has a strong safety profile.
It is legal nationwide when prescribed and administered by a licensed medical professional — which is how we work.
People navigating depression, anxiety, PTSD, grief, burnout, or major life transitions — especially when traditional therapy or medication alone hasn’t been enough. We also work with high-functioning individuals seeking deeper self-knowledge and personal growth.
Ceremonial ketamine is not appropriate for individuals with active psychosis, uncontrolled bipolar disorder, certain heart conditions, or active substance use disorders. We screen every applicant carefully — if our work isn’t the right fit, we’ll tell you and try to point you toward something that is.
No referral required. A formal diagnosis isn’t necessary either — though our intake process will explore your mental health history thoroughly to ensure this work is safe and appropriate for you.
Each session begins with grounding and intention-setting. The medicine is administered, and you’re held in a comfortable, ceremonial space — eyes closed, music playing, with guides present throughout. Sessions typically last 2–3 hours.
Afterward, there’s time to rest, return slowly, and begin the integration conversation that follows the experience.
We use intramuscular (IM) injection, which produces a more immersive experience than oral lozenges and offers more predictable dosing than IV infusion. All administration is done by licensed medical staff.
You will be in an altered state, but typically not unconscious. Most clients describe being aware of imagery, emotions, and insights throughout the experience. Memory of the session usually remains intact, though some details fade like dream content.

Preparation begins well before your first session. We’ll meet for one or more preparation conversations, give you guidance on diet and lifestyle in the days leading up, and help you clarify what you hope to work on.
